Duties/Volunteering

Like every club, we rely on the members to take turns volunteering, especially to run our core duties on the water.  This is crucial for the success of our activities and events both on and off the water. New members and our frequent sailors are encouraged to get involved.  As a member, volunteering is important to enable the Club to run smoothly. Sailing and volunteering are fun and integral to helping our member's physical, mental and emotional health, and great ways to actively mix with friends, meet new people, learn or practise new skills and gain confidence.

Our club Committee are all volunteers and hope that members will also take the opportunity to volunteer to support each other whether this is simple tasks such as managing trolleys at the start and end of racing, maintenance of the clubhouse, boats, and engines, supporting the public discover sailing days, open or social events.

We encourage you to volunteer whenever you can. Assistance and on-the-job training will always be given if required and it is a chance to improve your skills with many activities associated with sailing.

For on-the-water duties, we use the Sailing Club Manager online duties system. Members need to log in to the club portal to view and commit to supporting the club on specific dates. The duty roster system enables automatic duty notifications, arranging swaps, automatic updates visible to all, and online duty availability confirmation.

Remember, it's your responsibility to arrange duty swaps if you can't attend. Use the online Duty Roster for requesting swaps via email and confirming verbal or forum arrangements.
